Set a Whatnot Price by Country

Set a Whatnot item or live-sale price in the currency and seller region that match your account. Enter the profit and margin you need, then include product, packaging, shipping, buyer-paid shipping and tax, regional commission, payment processing, VAT on modeled platform fees, and the optional high-value promotion. The solver chooses the higher price required by your two goals. Verify current Whatnot terms before publishing or auctioning an item.

    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Choose the seller region and currency, then review the regional defaults before adding your profit goals.
    2. 2Add product, packaging, seller shipping, and other order costs, along with buyer-paid shipping and tax.
    3. 3Solve the item price for target profit and target margin using regional commission, processing, VAT, and the optional eligible threshold.
    4. 4Choose the higher valid price so one order clears both goals, then run that price through the full fee model.
    5. 5Review buyer checkout separately. Buyer-paid tax affects processing in this model but is not seller revenue.

    Formulas

    • Variable fee rate = (commission% + processing%) × (1 + VAT%) when the threshold is not active
    • Price for target profit solves seller revenue − platform fees − seller costs = target profit
    • Price for target margin solves profit ÷ (item price + buyer-paid shipping) = target margin
    • When eligible, commission becomes commission% × threshold above the editable local-currency threshold
    • Recommended price = the higher valid price for target profit and target margin

    Important assumptions

    • Select a seller region first. The price solver uses the matching local-currency commission, processing, fixed fee, and VAT defaults.
    • Commission applies to item price, with the optional high-value threshold modeled only for eligible Coins and Money or Collectibles. Processing applies to item price plus buyer-paid shipping and tax.
    • UK/EU VAT is applied to commission plus processing and starts at an editable 20% planning rate. VAT varies by seller setup and jurisdiction, so it is not a universal EU rate.
    • Seller revenue for the margin view is item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Buyer-paid tax is shown in processing but stays outside seller revenue.
    • Product, packaging, seller shipping, and other costs must be covered by the item price. The recommended price is the higher valid solution for target profit and target margin.
    • Category promotions, auction outcomes, refunds, high-value rules, and current Whatnot terms can change the planning result.

    Worked example

Set a USD price for a USD 15 order profit

A United States seller wants USD 15 per order with a 25% margin floor. The buyer pays USD 5 shipping and USD 4 tax, product cost is USD 12, packaging is USD 1, seller shipping is USD 5, and the standard planning rates are 8% commission and 2.9% processing plus USD 0.30.

The calculator recommends an item price of about USD 32.09. Buyer order total is about USD 41.09, projected profit is about USD 15, and the projected seller-revenue margin is about 40.5%, clearing both goals.
