    Affiliate Disclosure

    Effective date: July 28, 2026

At Smart Sellers Tool (https://smartsellerstool.com), we want you to understand exactly how we make money so you can trust the numbers we show you. This page explains our affiliate relationships in plain language, as required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and other consumer protection laws.

    Short version

Some links on Smart Sellers Tool are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something or sign up, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we genuinely believe help online sellers run more profitable businesses. Our calculator formulas and editorial recommendations are independent of affiliate status.

    1. What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a special URL with a tracking code that lets a company know you found them through our site. When you click an affiliate link and then make a purchase, start a trial, or complete an action the company counts as a conversion, that company may pay us a commission or referral fee.

The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the company. Affiliate programs do not increase your cost. In some cases, you may even get a discounted rate or extended trial through our link.

    2. Where you will find affiliate links

When affiliate relationships are active, you may find them in:

    • Recommendation boxes that appear after calculator results
    • Native callout areas inside long-form educational content explaining how a formula works
    • Comparison tables for business software relevant to sellers
    • Resource pages, category guides, and future blog posts (when the blog launches)
    • Sponsored calculator pages that are clearly labeled as sponsored

Today many of our pages do not contain affiliate links yet because we are still building the core calculator library. As we add recommendations, they will always be labeled.

    3. How we identify affiliate links

We follow FTC guidance for clear and conspicuous disclosure:

    • A short disclosure appears immediately before or above any section that contains affiliate links, for example: "This section contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you."
    • Sponsored or co-branded calculators include a label such as "Sponsored" or "Sponsored calculator" near the title.
    • This standalone disclosure page is linked in the footer on every page of the site under "Affiliate Disclosure" and is also referenced in our Disclaimer and Terms of Service.

If you ever cannot tell whether a link is an affiliate link, please treat it as one and assume we may earn a commission.

    4. What types of products we may recommend

We only recommend categories that relate directly to running a profitable online selling business and that our audience actively asks about after using our calculators:

    • Accounting and bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Wave alternatives)
    • Print-on-demand platforms and fulfillment (e.g., Printify, Printful, and alternatives)
    • E-commerce platforms and website builders (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix)
    • Business banking, payments, and expense management
    • Inventory management and order tracking software
    • Shipping software, label printers, and rate comparison tools
    • Email marketing and customer retention tools
    • AI tools for product descriptions, images, and pricing research
    • Tax filing, sales tax automation, and 1099 / VAT support for sellers

We do not recommend products we have not vetted. When we have direct experience with a tool, we will say so. When we recommend based on research and seller feedback, we will be transparent about that too.

    5. Our editorial independence

Our first job is accurate math. Calculator formulas, fee schedules, and line-item breakdowns are built from public documentation of Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, and other platforms, plus real seller reports. Affiliate status has no influence on those formulas.

    When we recommend a product:

    • We evaluate it based on whether it helps a seller reduce fees, improve margin, save time, or make better pricing decisions.
    • We continue to list and explain non-affiliate alternatives where they exist so you can choose what fits your business.
    • We will never hide a fee or overstate profit to make an affiliate product look better.
    • If we receive a free trial or account to test a product, we disclose that when relevant.

Our Business Intelligence features — Profit Health Score, AI Business Insights, and Smart Recommendations — are generated from your calculation inputs, not from affiliate relationships. They will not steer you toward a paid product unless it is directly relevant to the recommendation, and we will label it if so.

    6. Amazon Associates and other networks

Smart Sellers Tool may participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and similar affiliate programs operated by other companies. As an Amazon Associate, we may earn from qualifying purchases. That means when you click an Amazon link on our site and buy within the cookie window, Amazon may pay us a percentage of that sale.

Affiliate cookies typically last 30 to 90 days, depending on the program. That window allows the retailer to attribute your purchase to our site even if you do not buy immediately. You can learn about how Amazon uses data at amazon.com/privacy.

    7. No extra cost to you

Using an affiliate link does not change the price you pay. Companies pay the commission from their marketing budget. If a discount code is available through our site, we will share it and the discount will apply at checkout.

    8. Your choices

You are never required to click an affiliate link or buy anything we mention. If you prefer not to use an affiliate link, you can search for the product directly. Using or not using our links has no effect on your ability to use any calculator on Smart Sellers Tool — all core calculators remain free and do not require an account.

If you do find our recommendations helpful and choose to support our work by using them, thank you. It helps us fund new calculators, educational content, and free tools.

    9. Questions about this disclosure

If you have questions about how affiliate links work on Smart Sellers Tool, want to report a disclosure that is missing, or are a brand that wants to discuss a partnership (which would also be clearly disclosed if it becomes an affiliate relationship), please contact us:
