Review a completed or planned Whatnot sale in the currency and seller region that match your account. Enter the item price and buyer charges, choose the regional category scenario, then subtract Whatnot commission, payment processing, VAT on modeled platform fees, product cost, packaging, the shipping you pay, and other order costs. The result separates buyer pass-through amounts from net profit and margin. Use the fee calculator to inspect charges and the pricing calculator to set a price before the sale.

    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Start with the item price and buyer charges from the completed or planned Whatnot order, plus the seller region tied to the account.
    2. 2Apply the regional commission to item price, including the optional eligible threshold only when the promotion is enabled.
    3. 3Apply payment processing to item price plus buyer-paid shipping and tax, then apply VAT to modeled commission and processing when the region uses VAT on fees.
    4. 4Classify item price plus buyer-paid shipping as seller revenue and keep buyer-paid tax outside that revenue.
    5. 5Subtract product cost, packaging, actual shipping, live-selling allocations, and other costs to show net profit and margin.

    Formulas

    • Seller revenue = item price + buyer-paid shipping
    • Processing base = item price + buyer-paid shipping + buyer-paid tax
    • Platform fees = commission + processing + VAT on modeled platform fees
    • Net profit = seller revenue − platform fees − product cost − packaging − actual shipping − other costs
    • Margin = net profit ÷ seller revenue × 100

    Important assumptions

    • Select a seller region first. The result starts with matching local-currency commission, processing, fixed fee, VAT, and high-value threshold assumptions.
    • US, Canada, and Australia start at 8% standard or other categories, 4% Coins and Money, 5% Electronics, and a 12% Sneakers planning scenario. UK and EU start at 6.67% standard, 4% Coins and Money, and the standard planning rate for Electronics and Sneakers.
    • Commission uses item price, or the eligible threshold amount when the optional high-value promotion is enabled. Processing uses item price plus buyer-paid shipping and tax.
    • VAT applies to Whatnot commission plus payment processing in UK/EU planning only. The default UK/EU VAT planning rate is 20% and remains editable because seller treatment varies.
    • Buyer-paid shipping is included in seller revenue to show its relationship to fulfillment. Buyer-paid tax remains pass-through and is excluded from seller revenue, but it stays in the processing base.
    • Net profit includes product, packaging, actual shipping, and other entered seller costs. Add show labor, returns reserve, or promotion as an allocation when they belong to the sale.
    • Refunds, chargebacks, tax remittance, promotions, and current settlement adjustments require a separate review.
