    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Product costs = attributedRevenue × costOfGoodsPercent/100.
    2. 2Shipping costs = attributedRevenue × shippingPercent/100.
    3. 3Payment fees = attributedRevenue × transaction%/100 + fixed × orderCount.
    4. 4Total cost = adSpend + productCosts + shippingCosts + paymentFees.
    5. 5Net profit = attributedRevenue − totalCost.
    6. 6ROAS = attributedRevenue / adSpend.
    7. 7ROI = netProfit / adSpend × 100.
    8. 8BreakEvenROAS = 1 / (1 − costRate) where costRate = product% + shipping% + txn%.

    Formulas

    • Product = revenue × COGS%
    • Shipping = revenue × ship%
    • Fees = revenue × txn% + fixed × orders
    • TotalCost = adSpend + product + shipping + fees
    • NetProfit = revenue − totalCost
    • ROAS = revenue / adSpend
    • ROI = netProfit / adSpend × 100
    • BreakEvenROAS = 1 / (1 − costRate)

    Important assumptions

    • Product and shipping modeled as percent of attributed revenue for quick what-if.
    • Payment fees = revenue × processing% + fixed × order count.
    • Break-even ROAS simplified ignores fixed fee for headline number but net profit includes fixed.
    • Attributed revenue and spend should be same time window.
    • Does not include creative costs, agency, or overhead unless added to ad spend.

    Worked example

    $500 spend drives $2000 revenue

    $500 ad spend, $2000 attributed revenue across 50 orders, 30% COGS, 12% shipping, 2.9% + $0.30 fees.

Product $600, shipping $240, fees $73, total cost $1413, net $587, ROAS 4×, ROI 117.4%, break-even about 1.82× on product only, ~2.3× after ad spend considered. Healthy.
