    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Current AOV calculated by dividing total revenue by total orders.
    2. 2Gap to target equals target AOV minus current AOV.
    3. 3Revenue at target calculated by multiplying target AOV by order count.
    4. 4Additional revenue needed equals revenue at target minus actual total revenue.
    5. 5When gap is negative, you already exceed target and extra revenue shows as negative or zero.

    Formulas

    • CurrentAOV = totalRevenue / totalOrders
    • Gap = targetAOV − currentAOV
    • RevenueAtTarget = targetAOV × totalOrders
    • AdditionalRevenue = RevenueAtTarget − totalRevenue

    Important assumptions

    • Current AOV = totalRevenue / totalOrders.
    • Revenue at target = targetAOV × totalOrders.
    • Gap to target = targetAOV − currentAOV.
    • Additional revenue needed = revenueAtTarget − totalRevenue.
    • Does not model conversion rate impact of pushing AOV; track separately.

    Worked example

    $5000 over 125 orders

    $5000 revenue, 125 orders, target AOV $50.

Current AOV $40, gap $10 to target, revenue at target $6250, additional $1250 if you hit $50 AOV with same order count.
