Guru Pricing Calculator

Set a target for what you want to keep from a Guru project, then test your current invoice beside the suggested price. With custom job fee off, the selected plan supplies the researched 9%, 7%, 6%, or 5% fee context. Turn it on to use the editable fee field as an explicit override, including 0%. The math keeps listed job fee and employer-covered percentage points separate, allocates membership and fixed withdrawal costs across monthly jobs, and flags margin targets that the entered fee assumptions cannot support.

    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Use the selected plan's researched fee unless custom job fee is on; then use the entered fee exactly, including 0%.
    2. 2Calculate remaining freelancer job-fee percentage after employer contribution.
    3. 3Combine that variable fee with the withdrawal percentage.
    4. 4Allocate membership and fixed withdrawal cost across monthly jobs, then add project and operating cost.
    5. 5Solve target take-home as (target plus fixed costs) divided by the remaining revenue share.
    6. 6Solve target margin by including the margin target in the denominator.
    7. 7Return a review status instead of an impossible infinite price.

    Formulas

    • Listed fee% = selected plan rate unless custom job fee is on, then the entered custom fee
    • Remaining job fee% = max(0, listed job fee% − employer points)
    • Fixed per-project cost = membership ÷ monthly jobs + fixed withdrawal × withdrawals ÷ monthly jobs + project costs + operating allocation
    • Net = invoice × (1 − remaining job fee% − withdrawal%) − fixed per-project cost
    • Invoice for net = (target net + fixed costs) ÷ (1 − remaining fee% − withdrawal%)
    • Invoice for margin = fixed costs ÷ (1 − remaining fee% − withdrawal% − target margin)

    Important assumptions

    • With custom job fee off, the selected plan supplies Basic at 9%, Basic+ at 9%, Professional at 7%, Business at 6%, or Executive at 5%. Turn it on to use the editable job-fee field instead, including a deliberate 0%.
    • Employer contribution is modeled as percentage points of invoice value, capped at the listed fee. It depends on each Agreement and is not a universal plan benefit.
    • Membership and fixed payout charges are allocated across expected monthly jobs. Project and operating allocations are per project.
    • The solver treats the withdrawal percentage as a percentage of the invoice. It does not assume that Guru membership prices are refundable; researched context says memberships are non-refundable and prices can change.
    • Target results are before income tax unless you include a tax reserve in another scenario.

    Worked example

    1,000 invoice for an 800 take-home

Custom job fee is off, so the Professional plan supplies its 7% fee. There is no employer contribution, membership is 21.95 per month across four jobs, project costs are 75, and operating allocation is 25.

Fixed project costs are 105.49 after allocating membership. The target-net invoice solves to about 973.65 at the selected Professional plan's 7% fee. The target-margin price is higher because the 40% margin must also cover the fixed project costs.
