Amazon Pricing Calculator

Amazon pricing is not sale price minus product cost. You pay referral fee as a percent of price, a fulfillment fee per unit whether FBA or FBM, inbound freight to Amazon, and packaging prep. This calculator reverse-engineers the minimum price you need to hit your desired margin and shows profit at any price you test. Switch between FBA and FBM fulfillment cost to compare channel economics before you launch.

    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Landed cost = productCost + fulfillmentCost + shippingToAmazon + packagingCost.
    2. 2Let m = targetMargin/100 and r = referralFee/100. Minimum price = landedCost / (1 - m - r) when denominator >0.
    3. 3Referral at min price = minPrice × r.
    4. 4Profit at test price = testPrice - landedCost - testPrice×r.
    5. 5Margin at test = profitAtTest / testPrice ×100.
    6. 6Total Amazon fees at test = referralAtTest + fulfillmentCost.

    Formulas

    • Landed = product + fulfillment + inbound + packaging
    • MinPrice = Landed ÷ (1 - targetMargin% - referral%)
    • Referral = price × referral%
    • ProfitAtTest = testPrice - landed - referralAtTest
    • MarginAtTest = profitAtTest ÷ testPrice ×100

    Important assumptions

    • Total landed cost excludes referral because referral scales with sale price.
    • Minimum price solves equations: price = landedCost / ((1 - margin/100) - referralPercent). When margin + referral >=100%, price is capped.
    • Referral fee at any price equals price times referral percent.
    • Suggested price rounds minimum price to nearest .99 psychological level.
    • Profit at test price equals testPrice minus landed cost minus referral at test price.

    Worked example

Private label kit pricing to hit 25% margin

    $8 product, $4.50 FBA fulfillment, $0.75 inbound, $0.80 packaging, 15% referral, target 25% margin, test price $29.99.

    Landed cost ex-referral $14.05. Minimum price for 25% margin with 15% referral: 14.05 ÷ (1-0.25-0.15) = 14.05 ÷ 0.60 = $23.42. Referral at minimum $3.51. At test price $29.99, referral $4.50, profit $29.99 -14.05-4.50 = $11.44, margin 38.1%. Total Amazon fees at test $9.00. Suggested rounded price $23.99 covers target with $1+ buffer.
