    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1RPM calculated as totalRevenue divided by totalViews times 1000.
    2. 2Estimated CPM calculated as RPM divided by 0.55.
    3. 3RPM vs average compares your RPM to $4 baseline as percent.
    4. 4Monthly projection equals totalRevenue when period is monthly; otherwise same value for reference.
    5. 5Views needed for target = totalViews × targetRPM / rpm when rpm >0.
    6. 6Chart shows your RPM vs target RPM.

    Formulas

    • RPM = totalRevenue ÷ totalViews × 1000
    • Estimated CPM = RPM ÷ 0.55
    • RPM vs $4 = (RPM ÷ 4 × 100) - 100 as delta, stored as RPM/4×100
    • Views needed = totalViews × targetRPM ÷ RPM

    Important assumptions

    • RPM = totalRevenue ÷ totalViews × 1000.
    • Estimated CPM = RPM ÷ 0.55 assuming 55% creator share and 100% monetized for estimate.
    • RPM vs average uses $4 as general baseline; finance $8+, gaming $1-$3.
    • Monthly projection equals RPM-based revenue at current views if period is monthly; otherwise shows same revenue as entered for reference.
    • Views needed for target is illustrative: totalViews × targetRPM / current RPM when RPM >0.
    • Benchmarks are US-centric and vary by seasonality.

    Worked example

    100k views earning $350

$350 total revenue, 100k views, monthly period, target $5 RPM.

    RPM = 350 ÷ 100k × 1000 = $3.50. Estimated CPM = $3.50 ÷ 0.55 = $6.36. vs $4 baseline = 87.5%% of average? Actually $3.50 is 12.5%% below $4. Monthly projection $350. Views needed to show $5 RPM context = 100k × 5 ÷ 3.5 = ~142,857 views at same revenue efficiency.
