How it works
Methodology & formulas
This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.
Calculation steps
- 1Calculate PPH fee per average project from buyer lifetime or blended rate.
- 2Multiply project-level fees, VAT, withdrawal percentage, and delivery costs by monthly volume.
- 3Add recurring platform, promotion, software, and other operating costs.
- 4Subtract all costs from gross revenue for pre-tax profit.
- 5Reserve tax only against positive pre-tax profit, then divide after-reserve amount by project hours.
- 6Estimate break-even projects from fixed monthly costs divided by project contribution.
Formulas
- Gross revenue = projects × average invoice
- PPH fees = project fee × projects
- Withdrawals = gross × withdrawal% + fixed fee × withdrawals
- Pre-tax profit = gross − PPH fees − VAT − withdrawals − platform overhead − delivery − operating costs
- After reserve = pre-tax profit − max(0, pre-tax profit) × reserve rate
- Break-even projects = fixed monthly costs ÷ contribution per project
Important assumptions
- PeoplePerHour tier rates are per buyer. The blended option is a user-entered average for a mixed client book, not an official blended rate.
- Gross revenue equals average invoice times projects per month. Zero projects is allowed and returns a safe zero-volume scenario.
- VAT is applied only to the PPH service fee when enabled. Income tax is represented by an optional reserve, not calculated.
- Proposal credits, promotion charges, membership, and withdrawal terms vary by account or method. Monthly fields are editable and blank by default where no cost is verified.
- Effective hourly earnings include the hours you enter per project. Include proposals and administration when they belong in your working day.
