    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Buyer pays equals gig price plus extras total multiplied by quantity.
    2. 2Fiverr fee equals buyer pays times commission percent.
    3. 3Your revenue equals buyer pays minus Fiverr fee.
    4. 4Total expenses equal business expenses times quantity.
    5. 5Net earnings equal your revenue minus total expenses.
    6. 6Effective rate equals net earnings divided by your revenue after Fiverr fee.

    Formulas

    • Buyer pays = (gigPrice + extrasTotal) × quantity
    • Fiverr fee = buyerPays × commission%
    • Your revenue = buyerPays − fiverrFee
    • Expenses = businessExpenses × quantity
    • Net earnings = yourRevenue − expenses
    • Effective rate = netEarnings ÷ yourRevenue × 100

    Important assumptions

    • Fiverr seller service fee is 20% of order subtotal including gig extras and tips. This is fixed and non-negotiable for most sellers.
    • Buyer service fee is separate and not included in seller earnings calculation; buyer pays it on top.
    • Business expenses are per-gig costs you enter, multiplied by quantity for batch view.
    • Withdrawal fees to PayPal, bank, or Payoneer are not modeled in base fee but can be added to business expenses as average per withdrawal.
    • Taxes are not included; freelancers handle income tax separately.

    Worked example

    Logo design gig with extras

You charge $50 base for logo, buyer adds $30 for source file and fast delivery, quantity 1, Fiverr 20%, expenses $10 for fonts and mockup tools.

Buyer pays $80. Fiverr fee $16, your revenue $64, expenses $10, net earnings $54, effective rate 84.4% of Fiverr payout. To net $50 per hour for 2 hours, you need to charge about $75 base+extras before Fiverr fee, not $50.
