Facebook Marketplace Pricing Calculator

Set the payout or profit a Marketplace sale needs to produce, then solve for an item price per shipment. Compare shipped checkout with local pickup without checkout, keep buyer-paid shipping separate from your seller-paid label, and let the model enforce the $0.80 minimum per shipped shipment. Sales tax stays outside seller revenue.

    How it works

    Methodology & formulas

This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.

    Calculation steps

    1. 1Solve per shipment, then multiply the buyer total and fee by shipment count.
    2. 2For shipped checkout, compare the percentage fee with the minimum fee per shipment and use the larger amount.
    3. 3For a profit goal, add product cost per shipment to the required payout. For a payout goal, solve only for payout before product cost.
    4. 4The solved price accounts for buyer-paid shipping, seller label or carrier cost, packaging, returns or other cost, and the path-specific fee.

    Formulas

    • Shipped fee per shipment = max((item price + buyer shipping) × fee%, minimum fee)
    • Payout per shipment = item price + buyer shipping − fee − seller shipping − packaging − returns and other
    • Required payout per shipment = target payout ÷ shipments, or (target profit ÷ shipments) + product cost per shipment
    • Recommended item price is the lowest nonnegative price that reaches the required payout under the applicable fee regime

    Important assumptions

    • This is a US-focused planning model. Shipped checkout may not be available for every country, account, listing, or category.
    • Shipped checkout defaults to 10% with an editable $0.80 minimum per shipment. Buyer-paid shipping can be in the fee base.
    • Local pickup without checkout uses 0% platform fee. Add meet-up travel or payment costs to returns and other cost if they apply.
    • Target payout means after platform fee, seller shipping, packaging, and returns or other costs, before product cost. Target profit also covers product cost.
    • Sales tax is excluded from seller revenue. Older 5% and $0.40 guidance is outdated for this planning model. Verify current Meta terms and availability.

    Worked example

Price a shipped order for $20 profit

One shipped order with $8 buyer-paid shipping, $15 product cost, $1 packaging, $8 seller label, $2 returns or other cost, and a 10% fee with a $0.80 minimum.

The recommended item price is about $43.11. Buyer total excluding tax is about $51.11, the percentage fee is about $5.11, and projected profit is $20 after product, label, packaging, and other costs. Replace the rate and checkout assumptions with your account terms.
