How it works
Methodology & formulas
This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.
Calculation steps
- 1Revenue per order = salePrice + shippingCharged.
- 2Ad revenue = adOrders × revenuePerOrder, organic = organicOrders × revenuePerOrder.
- 3Promoted fee total = adRevenue × promotedPercent.
- 4Ad cost per order = promoted fee total / adOrders.
- 5Cost per click = promoted fee total / totalAdClicks.
- 6Total eBay FVF = totalRevenue × fvPercent + fvFixed × totalOrders.
- 7Net profit = totalRevenue − total FVF − promotedFeeTotal − fulfillmentTotal.
- 8Breakeven promoted rate = (revenuePerOrder − fulfillmentPerUnit − fvf per order) / revenuePerOrder ×100.
Formulas
- Revenue per order = salePrice + shippingCharged
- AdRevenue = adOrders × revenuePerOrder
- PromotedFee = adRevenue × promoted%
- ROAS = adRevenue / promotedFee
- Cost per order = promotedFee / adOrders
- Effective ad rate = promotedFee / totalRevenue ×100
- NetProfit = totalRevenue − FVF − promotedFee − fulfillment
Important assumptions
- Revenue per order = (salePrice + shippingCharged).
- Ad revenue = adOrdersPerMonth × revenuePerOrder.
- Organic revenue = organicOrdersPerMonth × revenuePerOrder.
- Total revenue = ad revenue + organic revenue.
- Promoted fee total = adRevenue × promotedListingsPercent /100. For Standard this is actual fee, for Advanced this is an effective representation of CPC spend.
- FVF total = totalRevenue × finalValueFeePercent + finalValueFeeFixed × totalOrders.
- Fulfillment = (productCost+shippingCost+packagingCost) × totalOrders.
- Net profit = totalRevenue − total FVF − promoted fees − fulfillment.
- ROAS on ads = adRevenue / promotedFeeTotal. Effective ad rate = promotedFee / totalRevenue ×100.
- Breakeven promoted rate estimates max you can pay on ad orders before ad-order profit zero.
Worked example
30 ad orders + 20 organic
$29.99 + $4.99 = $34.98 per order. 30 ad orders, 20 organic = 50 total. FVF 13.25% + $0.40 per order. Promoted 5% on ad revenue. Costs $16.24 per unit.
