Add platform and payment percentages, payout charges, production, editing time, contractors, equipment, software, marketing, other overhead, total hours, and an optional tax reserve. You can copy a gross result from Creator Income conceptually, but this calculator remains self-contained and uses only the assumptions you enter.

How it works
Methodology & formulas
This calculator is transparent by design. Review the steps and formulas so you can trust the estimate and adjust assumptions when your dashboard differs.
Calculation steps
- 1Start with the monthly gross revenue you enter.
- 2Apply platform, payment, and payout percentage costs plus the fixed payout amount.
- 3Calculate editing cost from hours and hourly cost, then add production and contractor costs.
- 4Add equipment, software, marketing, and other overhead.
- 5Subtract all costs for pre-tax profit and margin, then reserve tax only on positive profit.
- 6Calculate profit per hour and solve break-even revenue from fixed costs and variable fee rate.
Formulas
- Platform and payout costs = gross×platform/payment% + gross×payout% + fixed payout
- Editing cost = editing hours × editing hourly cost
- Operating expenses = contractors + equipment + software + marketing + other overhead
- Pre-tax profit = gross − platform/payout − production − editing − operating expenses
- After reserve = pre-tax profit − max(0, pre-tax profit) × reserve rate
- Break-even revenue = fixed costs ÷ (1 − platform/payment% − payout%)
Important assumptions
- All percentage fields are editable planning assumptions. No YouTube, TikTok, Patreon, Substack, or other platform revenue-share claim is hardcoded.
- Platform and payment percentage applies to gross revenue, and payout percentage is modeled separately. The fixed payout cost is monthly.
- Editing cost equals editing hours times editing hourly cost. Equipment amortization is a monthly planning allocation, not a tax depreciation schedule.
- Pre-tax profit includes production, editing, contractors, equipment, software, marketing, other overhead, and modeled payout costs.
- Taxes are represented by an optional reserve applied only to positive pre-tax profit. This is not tax advice.
