TeePublic Artist Earnings: How Many Sales Does Your Monthly Goal Take?

TeePublic Artist Earnings: How Many Sales Does Your Monthly Goal Take?

TeePublic artists do not set a price and a markup. TeePublic sets the retail price, and the artist receives a fixed earnings amount on each sale. That changes the planning question. Instead of asking what to charge, you ask how much you earn per sale in each situation, and how many sales it takes to reach the monthly number you want.

This guide explains how to answer that with the TeePublic Artist Profit and Artist Pricing calculators on Smart Sellers Tool, where the numbers must come from TeePublic rather than from us, and how to avoid planning around an out-of-date figure.

What TeePublic controls and what you control

TeePublic's help center states that artists cannot change the price of their products. Every product has two prices: a sale price and a regular price. The sale price applies during a design's first 72 hours, during a site-wide sale, or when the design is featured. The regular price applies the rest of the time.

Your earnings depend on three things:

    • The product. A t-shirt, a sticker, a coffee mug and a pin each have their own earnings amount.
    • The sale context. TeePublic's earnings chart has a "Regular" column and a "Sale" column. TeePublic's artist earnings guide says the sale column also applies when a customer uses a coupon during a non-sale period.
    • Your account category. TeePublic's help center says Artisan accounts earn more than Apprentice accounts on most products, because Artisan accounts get a discount on the fixed service fee charged on each sale. Accounts with a Pending status earn the same as Apprentice accounts.

What you control is the product mix, how many designs you list, how you promote them, and any costs you carry yourself. Those are the inputs that move your monthly total.

    What TeePublic's earnings chart shows

TeePublic publishes an earnings chart at teepublic.com/earnings, with separate views for Artisan and Apprentice accounts. When we read the Artisan view on October 5, 2026, it listed these amounts for a few common products (regular price / sale price):

    • Classic t-shirt: $4 / $2
    • Premium hoodie: $4 / $2
    • Coffee mug: $3 / $2
    • Stickers (matte, glossy or transparent): $0.75 / $0.50
    • Pins and magnets: $0.50 / $0.25

Treat these as a dated snapshot. They are not a promise of what your account earns today. We did not capture the Apprentice view, and TeePublic can update the chart at any time. Open the chart, pick your account category, and use the amount listed for your product. Your account's earnings report, which you can download from Account Settings, shows what you were actually credited.

    Two calculators, two different questions

This guide focuses on two of the TeePublic calculators on Smart Sellers Tool: Artist Profit and Artist Pricing. The TeePublic hub also includes a Fee calculator that estimates the commission on a single sale. The Profit and Pricing tools share a method but answer different questions.

The Artist Profit calculator: what does my month look like?

Use the TeePublic Artist Profit Calculator when you have an expected number of sales and want to see the result. You choose the product and sale context, use the built-in commission or enter your own, add any outside costs, and enter your expected monthly sales. It shows your net earnings per sale, your estimated monthly earnings, and how your total compares with a payout threshold you enter.

The formula is visible on the page: net per sale equals your per-sale earnings minus any external payment cost minus any other cost per sale, and monthly earnings equal net per sale times sales.

The Artist Pricing calculator: how many sales do I need?

Use the TeePublic Artist Pricing Calculator when you start from a goal. Despite the name, it does not set a retail price, because TeePublic does that. It is a target-earnings and sales-volume tool: enter the monthly amount you want, and it divides by net earnings per sale and rounds up to a whole number of sales.

In short, the Profit calculator starts from sales and ends at money. The Pricing calculator starts from money and ends at sales. Running both on the same inputs is a good check on your plan.

A worked example with labeled assumptions

This example is arithmetic only. It uses the Artisan t-shirt amounts from the snapshot above, and your own amounts may differ.

    • Goal: $300 per month from one t-shirt design.
    • All sales at the regular amount ($4): $300 divided by $4 is 75 sales.
    • All sales at the sale amount ($2): $300 divided by $2 is 150 sales.
    • A mix of 60 regular and 40 sale-context sales: (60 x $4) + (40 x $2) is $320.
    • With a $0.25 cost you carry on each sale: $4 minus $0.25 is $3.75 net, so $300 divided by $3.75 is 80 sales.

The point is the spread. The same goal needs twice as many sales if they all land in the sale context, so the mix you expect matters as much as the total. We are not suggesting any of these sales volumes are typical. Use your own sales history from your TeePublic dashboard to choose a realistic number.

How to run your own plan, step by step

    1. Open the official chart. Go to TeePublic's earnings page and select your account category (Artisan or Apprentice).
    2. Write down the amounts. Note the regular and sale amounts for each product you sell.
    3. Enter them in the calculator. For an Artisan account selling a standard tee, hoodie, sticker or kids apparel, the calculator's snapshot setting fills in the commission. For an Apprentice account, a partner-site sale, or any product the calculator does not list, turn the snapshot off and enter the commission shown in your account. Run the calculator once for regular and once for sale context, or estimate your mix.
    4. Add your own costs. Include anything you pay per sale, such as a paid promotion allocated across expected sales.
    5. Cross-check. Enter your target in the Pricing calculator and compare the sales it requires with what your history supports.
    6. Recheck each quarter. Earnings amounts and policies can change, so confirm them before you set a new goal.

Payout timing and the threshold field

According to TeePublic's help center, artists are paid through PayPal or Payoneer on the 15th of each month for sales made during the previous calendar month. A January sale is paid on February 15.

TeePublic's artist earnings guide, published in 2022, says PayPal has no minimum earnings requirement and Payoneer requires $20 in earnings owed before payment is sent, with smaller amounts carried forward. That guide is several years old, so confirm the current rule under Account Settings, Earnings before you rely on it. The payout threshold field in the Profit calculator is editable, so you can match it to whatever your account requires.

What the calculators do not know

    • Their starting rates are a dated snapshot. As of October 5, 2026, the Fee, Profit and Pricing calculators all use the Artisan chart we captured for Regular and Sale sales: $4 / $2 for a standard tee, hoodie or kids apparel, and $0.75 / $0.50 for a sticker. Mugs, pins and magnets appear on the chart but are not calculator products. We did not capture Apprentice or partner-site rates, so for those, check your current account and enter the commission manually. The calculators are not connected to your TeePublic account, and TeePublic can change its chart at any time.
    • They do not know your account category. Artisan, Apprentice and Pending accounts earn different amounts.
    • They do not predict sales. You supply the expected number of sales. Neither tool estimates demand, traffic or how a design will perform.
    • They do not handle taxes. TeePublic's help center has a separate article on tax reporting for artists, and your own tax situation is outside what a planning calculator covers.

    Where to go next

If you sell on several platforms, the TeePublic calculator hub collects the TeePublic tools in one place. Start with your official amounts, run both calculators, and keep the numbers you used so you can see how your plan compares with your actual earnings report next month.
